Dental worries? Sedation dentistry can help!

The team at Meadows Family Dental & Implants takes your dental concerns to heart. Do you have dental phobias? Have you or a loved one had traumatic dental experiences in the past? Do you suffer from fear or anxiety regarding dental appointments, have a strong gag reflex, or worry about pain? We offer a variety of sedation options that will allow you to receive comfortable, trustworthy care from our team of experts.

Sedation Dentistry

We offer these forms of sedation:

  • Intravenous (IV) sedation. This form of sedation will put you to sleep, so you can rest comfortably and not experience any pain during treatment. You will wake up when treatment is over and be monitored closely by our staff until the anesthesia wears off. IV sedation is typically administered through a vein in the crease of your arm.
  • Nitrous oxide (laughing gas). This safe and effective sedative is inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose. It is not intended to put you to sleep but is meant to calm you and put you in a more relaxed state. You will be able to hear and respond to your dentist. The effects of laughing gas wear off as soon as the mask is removed.
  • Conscious oral sedation. You remain awake but do not experience pain during this form of sedation. Some refer to this as twilight dentistry or twilight sleep because you may drift in and out of consciousness and will likely not remember much about the procedure afterward.

If your worries or anxieties are causing you to avoid taking care of your oral health, your overall health is at risk. Sedation dentistry allows you to receive exceptional care from our team while remaining comfortable and at ease.
